Carbon Footprint Assessment is the Need of the Hour

The base of all organic life (as far we know it) is carbon. It can be as soft as Graphite and as hard as a diamond. All fossil fuels are carbon based (like Coal, Oil etc.)- When burnt in the presence of air (specifically oxygen) causes carbon dioxide to be emitted (CO2), which is the major constituent of greenhouse gas. Climate change is the outcome of a rapid rise in the concentration of greenhouse gases in the Earth’s atmosphere by humans.

Without any doubt, climate change is one of the greatest encounters in the world today. We all are responsible for it and we all must be part of the solution. The Earth’s temperature is increasing at an unprecedented rate. To understand just how quickly global warming is accelerating, consider this-…During the 20th century, the average global temperature increased by 0.6 degree Celsius. Using computer climate models, scientists estimated that by the year 2100 the average global temperature will increase by 1.4 to 5.8 degree Celsius. According to UNFCCC, we have already reached 1.1 degrees Celsius of global warming. We could reach 1.5 by 2030. We need urgent action!

Therefore if we start with individual contribution, we would cover the entire space soon. Moreover for this the first step is to understand the impact of an individual by estimating the Carbon Emissions by our daily activities. This would led us to estimate what we call as Carbon footprint which is the sum of all emissions of CO2 (carbon dioxide), which were induced by an individual or by an organisational activities in a given time frame, measured in units of carbon dioxide. It is crucial to take responsibility NOW until its too late, for the emissions that you cannot avoid currently. Try to reduce your emissions as much as possible, and try continuously to reduce them. And if it is not possible to eliminate any such emissions than offset them. Then enroute for global climate neutrality by addressing their own climate footprint.

“ A highlight of the event was the recruiting talk by coach Nelson North. I learned specifics about college recruiting from the perspective of someone who has done it successfully at different amateur levels. The three A’s he emphasized – Ability, Academics, and Attitude ”
